The Public Centrality Index. A tool to assess how much museum spaces focus on their audiences
This article presents the reasons that encouraged the creation of a tool to assess the importance that various museum spaces give to their audiences, especially to those who visit them. Several aspects that affect the visit are taken into consideration, in accordance with what studies on the visit experience point out, as well as from the contributions of audience studies. The design process of the Public Centrality Index (ICP) tool, its conceptual foundations and the transformations it has undergone since its creation are recounted; the instrument is also presented with the application protocol, which was validated in successive experiences carried out in various museum spaces and accompanied by professionals from different areas who contributed to enriching this tool.
